Twitter project is in limbo
February 1, 2010 | Leave a Comment
I have to admit, I have been a little lazy on this twitter project. I was having some problems with the software that I use to add friends to the 10 accounts that I have set up. I think I had previously told you, that I set up 10 accounts on twitter each with different subjects-matched the subjects of the twitter accounts to ads in rvtweet.com. this way it makes the ads much more targeted, which will help with revenue. With the twitter accounts that I already have set up, I have made about $.60, approximately. Which is not bad, actually it is pretty awesome to see $.05 or $.10 show up into your account occasionally. After looking in my revtwt.com account I noticed that there is some interesting CP A. adds on the network. I’ve actually thought about running some ads on the twitter network to see what happens. The conversion rates would not have to be all that awesome and I could use data from past campaigns to get a good idea of what to expect on the network. It looks like revtwt.com is fairly strict on their publishers, which leads me to believe that there is not a lot of junk traffic on the network, which is something you often have to be concerned about. I will also report my findings as an advertiser on this blog…
Once I get this software working, I will start adding friends, and automating comments with appropriate keywords, to each of the 10 accounts. I really think that I can make this work with the appropriate research and testing. It will be interesting to say the least, which works better on the network, advertising on the network, or being a publisher. I am trying to decide whether to sign up as an advertiser and promote a CPA offer that I have had success with in the past. You need to have a $50 deposit on the network in order for your ads to go through. I will not expose the CPA offer that I’m using, but I will post the results. You will see the conversion rates, traffic, and how long it took to get the traffic. From what I understand, you set the price of the ad, what you will pay per click, and the twitters will decide if they want to post it. I have noticed that a lot of the CPA offers are in the five cent range to the publisher, which means it is $.10 per click for the advertiser. It is still very reasonable to get 500 clicks for $50. If I could at least break even, it would be very interesting. Some of the CPA advertisements pay a dollar 50 for entering a zip code or e-mail address. I have experienced conversion rates anywhere from 3% to 75%, depending on the network I was using or how I promoted the offer. I have been running CPA ads for about five years now, so I have some experience with them. Some of the ads, no matter the audience, just do not convert as well. I think while I wait on the software to be fixed, I am going to work on a landing page, possibly collect their e-mail address, then send them to the CPA offer. This way I can market to them more than once and is not just a shot in the dark. An e-mail address would be worth a nice penny for me.
I am going to think of an angle to take, develop a landing page, collect their e-mail address, then send them to the CPA offer. I can then promote to send multiple times, and make more money off of each e-mail address. I’ll work the next few hours, later this evening, on the angle I’m going to take and the page that I will create. This is just to make up for some time while I wait on the software to be fixed. I will post results as I move along. I’m keeping very detailed records on Google docs, so I do not lose track of what I’m dealing. Also, this will let me find out what went wrong or what I did correctly. It is so easy to have successes or failures and not know exactly what happened to make it a success or failure. Some details, that you had forgotten about, could have led to your success or failure. Sometimes, success or failure is determined by various small details. It is the sum of these details that lead to your success or failure. I plan on keeping the details in Google docs. We’ll keep you posted.
Remember, you can keep track of all the projects that I am doing, in the category section. You can click on the category, and all the posts related to that project will appear. This way you can easily follow along with everything that I’m doing. I plan on working just one hour or less on each project. I also plan on setting automated tweets, as I was saying, this evening. I will use keywords, related to the subject of the twitter account, for each tweet. This way if someone is doing a search for a subject, my tweets will possibly appear, and the person will follow me. This way each account does not look like some kind of spam account, and the account will actually have something useful to say.

Adding Friends to Accounts (Days 3 and 4) Setting Up Accounts in socialoomph
January 11, 2010 | Leave a Comment
On Day 3 I didn’t get a lot done…. I only used my software to follow friends to three of my twitter accounts… I was doing other things and didn’t take the 20 or so minutes to follow friends. One neat thing about the software I am using, you can open up about 4 or 5 instances of it and run it at the same time…. Just make sure that you are using different twitter accounts on each one. I have found (at least on my computer anyway) that anymore than 4 or 5 instances and it will crash… You may have a different experience. I didn’t get much done yesterday but plan on adding friends to all 10 of my accounts today (Day 4)…. that is actually what I am working on today. I also plan on setting up all accounts in socialoomph so I can automate my tweets. I don’t want to just send out adds to all my accounts all the time… I want to be real and actually send out real tweets related to the niche I am targeting.
Like I said, I broke down each of my accounts to very specific niches…. I have found that the people following me very greatly depending on the niche that I am in… it is quite interesting actually. I am keeping every detail of what I do and how it progresses until I reach 50K in followers across 10 accounts. That is my ultimate goal….. I figure with 50K across 10 accounts, each account working with a specific niche…. then I should be able to make at least a little bit of money… passively of course once it is set up. So anyway, here are my goals for today:
Follow friends (100-200 per day only until I reach 1K for each account)
Setup all 10 accounts in socialoomph.com
Schedule tweets for each account that relate to the niche I am targeting..
That is it.. should take me less than an hour… I plan on scheduling the tweets about 8 weeks ahead of time…. just one liners… about 4 or 5 a week…. that is approximately 40 one lines tweets for 2 months…. should not take me that long…. So that is 400 tweets I will have to schedule for 10 accounts (total).. hmmm…. now that I think about it, may take me quite a few hours….. but I won’t have to worry about it later…. better yet, maybe I can get someone else to do it….. My goal is to get 50K followers across all accounts….. Gonna get it done one way or another… That way I can deem this project as a success or failure….. learn from my mistakes, maybe try it again differently or ditch it all together….. More later.

Completed Setting Up 10 Accounts on Twitter Day 2
January 9, 2010 | Leave a Comment
I completed setting up the accounts on Twitter and added a picture to each one. I chose different topics for each one. I wanted the topic to match the available advertising inventory. As I mentioned before, I set up an account at RevTwt and added all 10 accounts. You can add more than 10 accounts but from what I gather, you need to do pretty well with the first 10 that you have.
I am keeping track of everything I do on a Google Doc spreadsheet. I will post the spreadsheet minus the data at some point in the future. I may add the template so at least you can see how I set it up. I am keeping a record of every detail. I am also setting up each account in socialoomph.com This service is VERY cool because you can schedule your tweets for multiple accounts. I actually have been using it before I started this method.
After I set up the twitter accounts in socialoomph.com, I am going to start getting and weeding out friends. It is VERY important that you keep a balance of friends you follow and those who follow you. The free services that I have used in the past just do not cut it…. they are good for what they are, but to keep track of multiple accounts and make sure you are not following the same person over and over, it is not good.
I use a paid service to follow friends on Twitter. The main reason is I don’t have to worry about spamming as much and following the same person over and over, thus being accussed of spam. This program keeps what you are doing in a database so the chances of being accused of spam are slimmer. For example; you can put a twitter username in the program and it will keep track of how many of the people under that username you have already requested to follow…. Some users on twitter have hundreds of thousands of followers… this software will pick up where you left off and never follow the same user more than once. The system I use is: Brute Force Twitter. It really is worth the price, cuts your time and worry down dramatically. Well I’m off to get more followers to my accounts!
I am in the process of removing people who didn’t follow me, again I am using software to do this. I absolutely love it. One thing I do when I want to see how many followers I have in each of my accounts, or just simply check each of my twitter accounts is open them all up in Firefox. Firefox has a neat feature that if you save all your bookmarks in a group, you can open them all up at the same time. So I save all my twitter pages under Twitter Project then open them all up when I need to.

Twitter Marketing – Make $50 a Day Day 1
January 8, 2010 | Leave a Comment
As most of you know, I’ll do about anything (legal of course) to turn a buck. I am especially fond of selling digital goods and the like. The overhead is low and the audience is right at your fingertips. You can quicky discover what is going to be a hit and what is going to be a dud… with a minimal investment of time and money. The problem I have with many projects is the time involved to implement. I value my time greatly (as most do) but I am not a fan of spending hours upon hours, days even, on something that will net me a big fat ZERO or worst yet, put me in the hole. I would much rather pay someone else to do it, see if it works, then go from there…. cut my losses or collect my gains. I would much rather spend my time thinking of new ideas, expanding on existing ideas or spending money…. on other things that make me more money of course. I digress……
As you probably already know, Twitter is a big thing… All you hear is twitter this, twitter that.. etc. Being the person I am, I knew there had to be a way to monetize on this… so on went my search to find the next “big money maker”… Now this is not going to get you rich overnight, like anything else, it takes time and discipline, learning from your mistakes and all the other good things that make something a success. If it worked the first time, you had zero pitfalls, everyone in the world would do it. In fact, there are pitfalls, there are hangups… it is how you choose to handle these problems that will determine whether your projects are successes or not… So enough rambling, you want to know exactly what to do and how to do it, right?
Well, if you haven’t heard of the Warrior Forum then I suggest you head on over there now and see what all the fuss is about.. the forum has been around for years and has been the inspiration for many of my ideas… successes and failures. I ran into a post from smashedpumpkins that gave detailed instructions on how to monetize twitter. I do not intend on making it easy on you, you will need to find his post yourself… I am just going to summarize what I am doing, and the progress along the way. Of course, I am going to change up a couple of things…. Based on my own experience, I think it will work better for me.
Basically the goal is to make $50 passively from Twitter Daily. This is approximately $1500/month. This is not a crazy goal. If you are not familiar with affiliate programs or affiliate marketing in general, I suggest you become acquanted with it or you will become confused very quickly. I have a tendancy to assume everyone is on the same page as myself and it simply is not the case. Anyway, get familiar with affiliate marketing, what it is about, etc. An excellent place to start is the warrior forum.
Here are the steps in a nutshell….
1. Open 10 twitter accounts with pictures. Pictures are important.. gives a personal touch.
2. Open an account at RevTwt.com. This is where you will monetize your tweets.
3. Enter your 10 twitter accoutns in RevTwt.com.
4. Get Followers (be sure to maintain a balance between who follows you and who you follow)
5. After 24 hours, remove followers that have not followed you.
6. Set up an account at Social Oomph. to schedule real tweets that are not ads….
Of course there are a lot of details that I have intentionally left out.. for now. I am going to update this post with my progress and detail each step. You can click on the Twitter Marketing llink to bring up all the posts I have about this project.

New Project, Started Promoting…..
October 14, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Started with the new guy helping us with the marketing of the dating website… I am not posting it publicly, but will post it in the back office…. Just in case this site gets spidered… though I have most bots blocked.. until I am satisfied that the blog isn’t being spidered I will keep it private.. or until it is locked up… anyway…. I have allocated 3K to this project… Our marketing helper is going to be working at $7.50 an hour as a 1099…. though I will most likely not issue a 1099 until this project is completed and we see how things work out…. a lot of bookkeeping unless we intend on following through with it. For the record, I am going to make this work. He will be working on the dating site first, then the donut site, then other projects we discuss. I am charging the intellectual property company (which has yet to be named) for the amounts…. I plan on having him work 10 to 15 hours this week. I will post traffic and accounting details on the blog…. I will also post results from the sponsor on a weekly basis. We are promoting Fling.com.

Updated Traffic Stats for Project Blog
September 29, 2009 | Leave a Comment

Below are the traffic stats and keywords that we are ranking for…. They are not crazy numbers but keep in mind that this is a new blog with very few posts… we meant for this blog to be for our personal use and never intended on making money from it… so I did not do the usual marketing things that are necessary to rank for keywords… It is actually very poorly put together, it needs a lot of work… I am going to work on it this weekend, set it up for Ebay… I think it is October 1st that Ebay switches to a pay per click model… I really think this blog could do well with Ebay…. Will keep you posted.

New Dating Site Project
September 29, 2009 | Leave a Comment
Like I have enough for another project, but I really had to try this one…. I found it on the Warrior Forum and it kind of goes in line with a recent project that I started but never finished…. There is one major difference, it is my original project involved a huge database of city’s, county’s and states… It was basically a mad lib dating site….. I never really got it off the ground… but the WSO on the warrior forum really got my juices flowing… I can’t document exactly what I am doing with the project, since the owner of the WSO may get a little purturbed that I am sharing his methods with people that do not pay for the information… but I will share the traffic that I am recieving and the signups/sales that result from the traffic. I have everything set up… I cannot even share the actual website with anyone….. sorry folks, not this time… but I can tell you I will be using Fling.com for the project. I am calling this my “Dating Project”. I plan on devoting a couple of hours a day for getting this off the ground… My hopes are to have $40/day in revenue in a couple of months… after about 10-15 hours a week devoted to the project… We will see what happens. I was having some trouble with the dating site script (it is written in PHP) and the statcounter.com code that I typically use… I absolutely hate cpanel stats that are provided by the host…… but I didn’t have the option anyway, because for some odd reason my awstats in cpanel for this particular domain are not even working… instead of being resigned to this fact I decided I am going to put the website in a frame…. so I can have the statcounter code without interfering with the php of the site itself…. Off to experiment!
Remember, you can click on a category to see all of the posts for whatever project I am working on…

Found an Interesting Niche Keyphrase
September 16, 2009 | 1 Comment
Found a very interesting niche keyword that is related to the donut business…. it recieves over 12K searches a month, I will research the associated keywords and competition and post it later… I do not want to post the keyword until I have grabbed it…. all three major tld’s are availble (very unusual)… I won’t post just in case someone besides the 4 of us is watching… (it is a public blog right now, but search engine bots are blocked) nevertheless, you never can be too careful… more later..
okay….. I can now expose our newest web domain FranchiseDonuts.com this keyword phrase gets 12K searches a month!!!! I registered all three TLD’s…. Very nice… here is a screenshot of what I found:

Here is what we will be competing with, it is very similiar to the others, we will be competing with the same 3 websites basically…. I know we can do it. Here is the screenshot of the info:

I will do some more research and propose a marketing plan tomorrow…. or late this pm. I plan on (I think we agreed) to turn it into an Ebay sales driven website… I will design the website (will need to be for both domains) and submit a marketing plan…. Some of the information can be found in Google Docs… You can access Google docs with the PVBO username and password.

Starting Promotion Plan today for MyDonutBusiness
September 16, 2009 | Leave a Comment
The following are the keywords and domain names that I will be using to promote the donut business website…. The following are keywords along with their search volume per month…. I will also display the competition and how difficult it will be or not to rank for each keyword…. The term “donut business” only gets 1800 searches a month… not a whole lot… but we will see what happens. Like Donnie said, we can go after other “business opportunity seekers and attempt to rank for those keywords as well… I will do some research after we start ranking for the term “donut business”. Here is a screenshot of the keywords for the term donut business and the corresponding traffic…

Here is our competition for this keyword….. As you can see, the PR”s are not significant, the highest one is 3… the only thing we have working against us is the age of the domains we are competing with…. Here is an image of what I found:

MyDonutBusiness.com Blog
September 14, 2009 | Leave a Comment
We created this blog quite some time ago (about 3 months)…. I have been casually adding content to the blog with actual happenings… Surprisingly, we have been getting some organic search engine traffic, simply with writing small articles of actual events. I have not attempted to monetize or promote this blog at all… I am contemplating making my own wordpress template for this blog or using an Ebay template so I can serve ads via Ebay… haven’t decided yet. It was never our intention to make money from this blog… until we noticed we were getting organic search engine traffic from google. You can visit the blog at: My Donut Business.com
