I’m going to update you on the ranking experiment i did a few weeks ago.. i took a.com keyword rich domain ,which I was lucky to find, set up a blog and posted a youtube video related to the subject. I did not do any promotion of any kind, simply set up the blog and ping the one post that i made. It took about a month but i noticed that we’re actully ranking for the key word on page 3 of google. This is not bad considering that i thought that a keyword rich domain was pretty much not necessary since the algorithm change on google. I have heard varying reports on whether this is the case or not. I’m certain with a little promotion that i could rank number one for the keyword. Now i just need to figure out how to monetize the blog. I’ve not done this yet but i plan on figuring out the page rank and age of the domain i’m competing with on page one if google for this keyword. People on my email list will get this information. I’m just glad that a keyword rich domain still helps.. even if somewhat.

I woke up this morning to find out that go daddy has taken money out of my account for domains I no longer want. The automatic billing feature is turned on by default i believe… i need to take the time to turn it off but I think it is a very shady business practice of go daddy. Of course i am certain that it provides in a lot of extra revenue for people that never take the time to say anything. Now i’m going to have to take time out of my day to dispute the charges and have the domain registration reversed. There are times when this feature comes in handy but i do not like the idea that Godaddy does it by default.

I wanted to update everyone on my direct mail experiment.. i have not done anything with it as of yet. I did find some places i would like to do business with after performing some preliminary research. They mainly were list brokers and places to create postcards for me. I discovered, and was not surprised, that it will be expensive to implement. I really cannot wait to invest the money to carry this out and report back my findings.. I will have the website for my email subscribers to see the results of my experiments (more details than I intend on posting here) in the next few weeks. So be sure you are on our email list.

As You know I performed an experiment where I took a keyword rich domain to see if I could rank for the keyword with doing little else but registering the domain and setting up a WordPress blog with one post. There was a time when having a keyword rich domain (especially a. Com) was enough to rank for the key word… it has been several days, probably a couple weeks ,and it does not yet rank for the key word. Keep in mind that i have not done any promotion on this website as i originally had intended. I have not tried, as I have said , to promote this website but do plan on doing so and reporting back. So this experiment is not quite over yet.

I am updating my experiment where I have an old .com collecting dust that is a .com…  There used to be a time that if you had a keyword rich domain you could rank pretty easily for the keyword…  It has been several days… I have done the following: Ran the domain through EVO (It is part of the Brute Force SEO System I use,  really helps getting backlinks and traffic) I haven’t submitted any articles via UAW yet…  UAW is another way to get massive amounts of backlinks.  I will be talking more about it later.   So far though,  google hasn’t ranked my site. These two tool are very powerful.   I use them in conjunction with TheNicheBlogger.com to create a nice long term income for myself.  Like I have mentioned before,  I had a scare on a couple of my sites because I thought they were kicked out of Google.. they were not de-indexed,  just not getting any traffic from the Big G.  Luckily, they have come back and am now recieving more traffic than I was before…

As i said in my previous post i’m experimenting with a.com.. it also happens to be keyword rich domain… if you have been following seo news lately you would know that Google apparently does not show favoritism to keyword rich domains No matter if they are a. Com, .net or .org. my experiment was to take a keyword rich domain I have and see if I can rank for the keyword.. simply for the fact it is a keyword rich domain and a dot com…. I am still not convinced this doesn’t work… I am not saying that Google hasn’t changes things up a bit… I think they pay more attention to age of the domain than they used to though.

So anyway I did some promotion of the site using evo last night… the domain was already indexed before I did the promo so it did not get indexed as a result of the promotions… I am just running it through evo once for now and will submit an article through uaw…

I woke up this morning and evo finished its work.. the Google bot has visited the site but not ranking… it used to be that if you had a dot com keyword rich domain that you would be ranking fairly quickly.. we will wait and see but it hasn’t quite been 24 hours yet and nothing had happened except a visit from the Google bot. I will update when something changes or enough time had elapsed to deem this experiment a failure. A failure in that the goal of the project is to have the domain rank for the desired keyword.

I keep a spreadsheet in google docs of all my keyword/niche research…. I spend a couple of hours a week sorting through all my ideas and finding out if a niche will be  profitable or not…  Before Google supposedly changed their algorithm to NOT give a keyword rich domain name advantage,  I searched to see if the keyword rich domain was available to register or not…   Needless to say I have quite a few keyword rich domain names collecting virtual dust.  I am going to do an experiment.   I actually have a keyword rich domain that is a .com….  unusual I know..  the numbers look like this:

5400 Exact keyword search according to Google

336K Competition

The top 3 domains have a PR of 4,2,4 respectively….

I am going to install wordpress on the domain…. do some link work and see what happens.

There are people who think that the new algorithm change is all hype… that it only effects new domains.   If I have the .com for a keyword rich domain with the above stats,  according to the old algorithm,  I should be able to rank quickly?    I have heard people ranking with a .com tld and had ZERO content…. so we will see… I am not going to make the site pretty at first… just a simple install of wordpress… not optimized in any way… then do some backlink work…  I will post the results to members of my email list in the next couple weeks… I will keep them updated on it’s progress.

These numbers are from June 4, 2010 when I did the research.  TheNicheBlogger teaches not to proceed with a domain that has such high competition (366K)  but the game changed…. so we will see what happens.

I have been interested in offline advertising for quite some time..  I know it can be a good way to get people to your website or offer…  I was speaking to someone at the warrior forum who has had some success with it after buying a WSO (that was not recieved as antcipated)… We discussed the fact that so many people want to make money with zero investment but their time… Although this is possible,  a true business person will realize that a certain amount of money is necessary to make any money.  If you think not,  then maybe a job is more appropriate for your situation.  With that being said,  I have no problem with investing money to get a project off the ground.  I have done it before,  some were flops (not successfull) and some were very successfull… But they all had one thing in common,  I had money invested in each one.  So to start off,  my experiment with direct mail WILL cost money… it will cost a substantial amount of money…. in the scheme of things I would not actually call it substantial… but it is in the $500 range.  Lucky for my readers though,  they get to watch over my shoulder to see if this really does work,  how I did it,  and if they want to replicate it or not.

Am I worried about competition?   No,  not at all… There are over 208 Million records in the databases I have been look into… so I am not worried about someone mailing all of them…  In addition,  many people suffer from analysis paralysis and few will actually follow through even if I reported back how successful my campaign is.   I am going to break this down into stages…

1. Find out what I am going to sell (clickbank product, CPA?)

2. Find a list broker….. I am looking at several…. I believe I have one in mind…..  I like the idea of long term relationships…  and mutually beneficial ones at that…  I applied to their affiliate program..  if they accept me as an affiliate I will go with their company….  If they do not (and I have been an affiliate marketer for years) then I will most likely go somewhere else….  I plan on doing several projects such as these promoting different products…  Many people will choose to follow (and many will not)  the list broker I choose to work with can share with me a lot of added business.

3.  Find somewhere to print postcards….. again,  I am looking for one that will allow me to be their affiliate…

4.  Contact or research the  post office website to see the best rate I can get on a  mailing and what the limit is before I need to get “permission” or a license.  I just don’t want to go to the post office with 500 post cards.  I want to be certain of their requirements.

I am keeping the following things in mind as I pursue this project:

1.  How targeted I can get the list.. I don’t want to promote a website selling obama hats and tshirts to republicans…

2.  The price of the list.. keeping in mind whether they will print the addresses for me or not… basically the TOTAL cost comparing apples to apples.

3.  My resources to devote to this project.  I am going to break this down into steps…. much like a person with limited resources would do… I am going to research and ultimately buy the list,  purchase the postcards, then mail them out in batches…. I don’t want to spend all the money at once… Even though I could if I needed to…  it just makes me feel more at ease that I am not spending such a huge amount of money all at the same time…

4. Whether to send a postcard or letter or other promotional material.

5. Determining to do a one time mailing or sending to the SAME list multiple times.  Since we are renting the list,  you have to have permission to mail to the list more than once… which equates to more money.  They seed the list so you WILL get caught if you plan on going that route.  It is my understanding that once they become your customer, then of course you can contact them as much as you want….

Be sure to sign up for my email list… I plan on having a members section where you can see the details of all my projects and the expected/actual outcome….   I reserve the right not to post the results on my blog but in a private members area.  So be sure to sign up.

Warning: This method of creating blogs is considered blackhat and will not give you a sustainable blog that will create money for you in the long run. This is strictly for short term gain, although I do have some autoblog networks that continue to make me money.

I am going to dust off some old tools I have used in the past and start an autoblog  network…. An autoblog is basically a blog with automated, scheduled content. I use a combination of unique and machine generated content. I will list the tools I use later on in the post. My goal is to have 10 domains with 40 to 50 directories that contain individual blogs. I will end up having approximately 500 blogs for this experiment. I will be promoting the same product and related products in each “network”. My definition of a network is one domain with 40 to 50 blogs under the root… So I will end up having 10 networks of 40 to 50 blogs promoting the same and related products.

I will post the results of my experiments to people who are on my email list. I will post the clicks generated to my sponsor and other tricks I have employed to get traffic to the autoblogs.  I also employ wordpress cloaking so that visitors of my blog go directly to the site I am promoting…  You may or may not agree with it,  but it is a tool that is available to the masses.

Again, I want to stress that this is NOT a long term method of making money… It is a constant cat and mouse game with the search engines. This can however, give you short term gains. There are exceptions to this, like I said, I have autoblog networks that are still around, but do not depend on it. If you want to create long term traffic and income, I urge you to take the course that TheNicheBlogger.com provides… If you use a combination of black and white hat techniques, being certain that you do each separately.. then you can create yourself a nice ongoing income.

I am not going to debate with anyone that thinks this is not the “right thing to do”….  It is google’s game for the most part… if you want to play by their ever-changing rules, that is for you to decide.  For me,  I am going to take advantage of every legal loophole to make money from their search engine I can….. and I mean legal in the eyes of the law of our land,  not the law according to Google.   I have been doing this same thing for many years,  the game has changed a lot, as well it should,  but there is a substantial amount of money to made online…  if you are dedicated enough to do it.

Listed below are the tools that I use and a brief explanation (for now) how they are used.

1. Hostgator (webhosting) You have heard it before, it takes money to make money. Before you can build a house, you need to lay the foundation.. This is where you lay your foundation for you blogs.. You need to have it reside somewhere.. this will be your hosting. I LOVE hostgator, the support is awesome and you are never left guessing what is going on. They have 24 hour live chat so you can always get help. If you are on my email list, there is a coupon code that I give out.

2. WordTracker (for keyword research).   The google adwords tool just does not cut it..  You can get many, many more keywords from wordtracker.  However,  it DOES cost money, so if you are on a budget then google adwords will do just fine.

WordPress Manager DX -  This will create the blogs for you.  I used to do this by hand (on subdomains no less) and it was a royal pain in the butt and time consuming.  With this script,  you create a profile, the plugins, themes, default posts, permalink structure, and anything else that you need to do with wordpress…  You can do it ONCE and create as many wordpress blogs as your hosting plan can handle.  Saves an unbelievable amount of time.   I used to do it the hard way…  creating each blog, uploading themes, plugins, changing things, etc… Now I do it once and use the same template for each blog.  I used to create a subdomain for each blog,  with each one actually having it’s own cpanel,  but this way is MUCH MUCH better.. and from what I can gather,  google likes these just as much as a blog on a subdomain.  It is just not worth the hassle to create a separate cpanel account for each blog.

Markov Content - This is machine generated content.   I use it in combination with content that I write or have written (then spun) for my autoblogs…  I have had a lot of success with it in the past.  You need to be sure you are using copywrited material however,  I am always very careful about that.  I usually use PLR (private label rights) content and content that I have written or had a ghostwriter write.

That is it for the basic tools… you will need some plugins for wordpress, but I will go over that later on this week.   Stay Tuned for More.  Again,  people on my email list will get the results and more details on my experiments,  so be sure you are on it.
